These terms apply the moment you download or use CaffeinateCat, so please read them carefully first. If you don't agree with them, don't use the app.
01Licence & intellectual property
You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use CaffeinateCat on your own Macs. You may share the unmodified app with other people for their own use. You may not modify the app, extract or reverse-engineer its source code, translate it, or create derivative versions. The app and all related trademarks, copyright and other intellectual property remain the property of Prem Poddar · Noxdrop Systems.
02Price & changes
CaffeinateCat is distributed as a direct download from noxdrop.com. Prem Poddar · Noxdrop Systems is committed to keeping the app useful and efficient, and reserves the right to change it, or how it is offered, at any time. We will never charge you for the app or a service without making very clear exactly what you're paying for.
03What it does to your Mac
CaffeinateCat keeps your Mac from sleeping. In lid-closed mode it changes a system power setting (pmset disablesleep) that needs administrator rights, and it installs a small rule that allows exactly two commands for that purpose. It sets the power setting back when you turn the mode off or quit, and has several safeguards to restore it if the app is interrupted, but it cannot promise to do so in every circumstance, such as a power failure. If it ever cannot, it tells you the one command to run. You can remove the rule at any time from the app.
04Heat, battery & your responsibility
A Mac that keeps running with the lid closed produces heat and uses battery power. Do not leave it in a closed bag, under bedding or in any place that does not let it cool, and do not rely on it to keep a task running unattended. The battery guard, which switches the app off at 20% and 10%, is a convenience, not a guarantee. You are responsible for how and where you use the app. Prem Poddar · Noxdrop Systems accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss, including data loss, a flat battery, heat or hardware damage, arising from keeping a Mac awake.
05Your device & permissions
You're responsible for keeping your Mac and macOS up to date and for the administrator password you enter when macOS asks for it. CaffeinateCat never sees that password. Timers and battery readings depend on macOS and may not be exact.
06Updates & termination
From version 1.3.0 the app can check for and install updates from noxdrop.com. System requirements may change, and you'll need to install updates to keep using the latest version; an update restarts the app. We may also stop providing the app and end your right to use it at any time without notice. On termination, the rights granted to you here end and you must stop using and, if asked, delete the app.
07No warranty
The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law that cannot be limited.
08Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time, so please check this page periodically. Any changes are effective as soon as they're posted here.
